Emotional Sculpture

(Johan Ku 2010)

Since my arrival in Taipei last thursday, I've been wanting to feature a Taiwanese designer.  And Johan Ku came to my mind as I remember reading about his "Emotional Sculpture" collection, which won an Avant Garde Award.

Although studied and established in UK, he is a an excellent example of young innovative Taiwanese designer that gained respect in the fashion world, alongside with legends like the late Alexander McQueen.

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Take it as it comes

After wearing my new Marni wedge for the first time, I suddenly remember something: with the heat and humidity in China, I need to buy half size up in shoes here!  I completely forgot that last summer, my sandals that perfectly fit me in Canada where all slightly snug on me here...I guess I didn't realize how much my feet can swell!

Otherwise, perfect day: went out to do a few errands, then had a few clients over to the studio, then opened 3 bottles of champaign while celebrating a dear friend's birthday and finally got a pedi before going home!

Oh well, I guess I'll get them stretched out a tab and it should be fine...not a big deal.  Now if I miss my flight to Taipei again, that would be a big deal!!!

3 Bad News + 1 Good News

3 Good News + 1 Bad News = not such a bad day...

Good News #1 - I just received my Marni wedge sandals I bought on sale 50% off two weeks ago!

Good News #2 - The red distressed shorts I bought from I.T. without trying fits me (I was really worried since I never tried their jeans before and I have no idea what does size 36 - apparently equivalent to 25 inches - means!?).

Bad News #1 - We missed our flight to Taipei yesterday and therefore out-of-pocket by $380 worth of penalties!

Good News #3 - I rebooked our trip to Taipei using my Aeroplan points and ended up paying only $98 for airport taxes!!!

Let me tell you how upset I was when we finally got to the airport and was told that we were 5 mins late for check-in cut-off time!!!  And if we were to catch the next flight out (5 hours later), it would be a grand total of $1000 for price adjustment for all 3 of us since our original tickets were bought at discount!  That's basically how much it would cost to get new tickets Shanghai-Taipei!

Anyways, really bummed out, I decided to cancel my hotel reservation ($160 penalty) and our flight ($220 penalty) and go home.

Once home, that when I started furiously looking for replacement flights at a reasonable price.  Then, I suddenly had the brilliant idea of using my Aeroplan points!!!  Hehe...not too bad, right?

What's in my carry-on?

(Chanel red jumbo; accessories; T by A Wang maxi dress; Theory Plaid shirt - SKIIN taupe/coral Gabi backless top; Uniqlo t-shirt; Rick&Skinny jeans; Vince cargo skirt; Gap tank; T by A Wang hooded poncho; Zara leather jacket)

(H&M scarf; Dominic Jones ring; Kenneth Jay Lane pendant; Hermes chrono watch; Hermes miniature perfume pendant; H&M gold cuff; Zariin two-stone ring; Vintage multi-chain necklace)

(Alexander Wang Freja booties; Converse pink runners)

Heading to Taipei today for a 4 day trip and the weather seems promising (sunny and mid-twenties degrees).  The legitimate reason of our trip is because of our chinese visa...but the real reason is to eat at night markets and stock up on snacks/toiletries/whatever-we-can't-find'in-china!

In my carry-on, I've packed just enough light-weight baby-proof clothes for 4 days.  Let's just hope Ayden is NOT going to wipe his snot on me!!!
