FALL TREND - Plaids

(Céline Pre-fall 2011)

(Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011)

(Chanel Fall 2011)

(L.A.M.B. Fall 2011)

(Isabel Marant plaid pants)

(Maison Martin Margiela plaid shirt)

(Christian Louboutin Rollerboy Spikes paid shoes)

(Junya Watanabe asymmetric plaid shirt dress)

Regardless if you look at streetstyle or on fashion runways, this fall, the designers have definitely been influenced by the British Royal wedding!  We are seeing plaids from plain shirts to not-so-plain shoes and everything in between!

If you're daring, go all out with mis-matched plaids à la Céline.  And if you fear that the checkered print will be too loud, then simply add a plaid shirt to your waredrobe, which will be a perfect layering piece this fall.

Moves like Jagger

Maroon 5's latest hit "Moves Like Jagger" had me singing the whole week.  It's just such a catchy tune!!

However, if you know me personally, you know I can't sing for my life (sorry to disappoint).  However, this girl can.

Venus in Furs

(Daria Werbowy, Venus in Furs)

This editorial is beyond belief.  Gorgeous Canadian supermodel Daria Werbowy as an exotic bird!  Black and white photo further accentuates the angles created by her body and the movement of the fringes on her coat.

I want her legs and whatever she's wearing...please!

Jil Sander Pyramid wristlet

(Jil Sander Pyramid wristlet)

In the odd occasion when I need to attend a formal event and need a purse just big enough to fit ny cellphone, my keys, a lipbalm and some IDs, a wrstlet is a good alternative to a traditional clutch.  It essentially serves the same purpose with an added handle so you do need to hold or clutch it.

I recently came accross this Jil Sander Pyramid wristlet the other day.  It's simple and contemporary design, just as the rest of the collection, allows it to be worn day or night.  Perfect!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Cotton Candy

Another late summer saturday night, another late summer wedding!  This time, since I was told at the rehearsal dinner that the theme colour is purple, I tried very very hard to look for something "purple" in my walk-in closet...I know, this is not remotely a purple dress but has some purple...you gotta give points for effort!

Anyways, as soon as I walked in the reception hall, I immediately noticed balloons at the entrance that my son would just love to play with.  Without hesitation, I took home not one, but two sets!!! (obviously with the bride's pemission).  They remind me of giant cotton candy, the ones that they use to sell at outdoor fairs when I was a kid.

Dress - Pucci; Sandals - Loeffler Randall; Watch - Hermes; Enamel bracelet - Hermes; Ring - Dominic Jones; Studded Cuff - Hermes; Aquamarine Ring - David Yurman

FLASHBACK: Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte S/S 2010

(Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Spring/Summer 2010)

Ok ok, I know I really don't need another pair of shoes, especially after my recent acquision of 5 new pairs of designer shoes (mostly on sale nonetheless), but if Santa is following my blog, he can send these babies on my way!

I actually saw them on sale at Mona Moore, the best shoe spot in town that decided to only offer its online store now...snif!  It's wasn't because I didn't love them enough to jump on them immediately at the time, there was a minor detail that got in the way: the price tag!!!  Retailed in the mid-2K, even on sale, it was more than my monthly mortgage!

So Santa, if you happen to see them around and judged that I was a good girl, I really wouldn't mind an early Christmas gift, especially for free!  I'll bake chocolate chunk cookies and make a big cup of latte for you!

MAISON MICHEL - Master Hatmaker

(Maison Michel Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2011)

As seen on celebrities likes the Olsen twins, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Rachel Bilson and Mila Jovovich just to name a few, Maison Michel Paris hats are as much as a headpiece as a piece of art on its own.

I've long been a hat-lover (it instantly changes the mood and attitude) and took the habit of buying hats every season, following the tradition of my mother.  As a young girl, I was always fascinated by her devotion to hats as she explained to me how it keeps her warm and acts as a fashion statement.  And just like that, I've started to collect hats since I was 16.

I still remember my first being purchased at Ogilvy, a local high-end department store in Montreal, during their winter semi-annual sale.  Ogilvy had two walls full of fantasy hats with feathers and lace, the kind that we would only see on the Royal Family.  Now, I have a mix of high and low end hats...and for all weather.

However, I can sure use a lace head piece like the second to last one modeled by Sasha Pivovarova!

MISSONI + Target Lookbook

Honestly, the clothing and accessories are as expected from Missoni's collaboration with Target - Zig Zag colourful print on easy to wear pieces.  Nothing exciting but not disapointing either.  However, I think I'll go mad over the linens, towels and candels!!!  What beautiful accents to brighten up a room!

And if I can ride home with the vintage looking Missoni bicycle, I'll be over the moon!
