MILITARY

(Elle Canada November 2012)

One of the things that gets me excited about winter (other than the holidays i.e. holiday indulgence) is definitely shopping for a new coat!  And my favourite style is definitely that utilitarian chic, especially if it comes with fur & leather trimming!!

Too bad this season, I won't be getting a new coat (I really don't think it's appropriate to get a chic fitted double breasted coat when I'll be double busting out of anything remotely fitted...).  But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the styling!

OBSESSION DU JOUR - Celine ID Necklace

Celine gold ID chain necklace.  I've been seeing on fashion editors, trying it on at Barney's and now obsessing over it for the past 6 months!  Just my kind of heavy metal.

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Too Hot

I was just about to head out with leggings and boots only to realized that it's way too hot today!  I'm not sure if I'm just too eager to sport fall wear or I'm just starting to run out of summer outfits to accommodate my ever growing belly...

Anyways, I quickly switch into a pair of shorts (barely fitting my new waistline) and ballerina flats.  Ah...much better!

Happy tuesday!

CHEAPIE MONDAY - H&M Ear Cuff

When shopping for eyebrow embellishment to recreate that Swan Makeup I blogged about a few days ago...but look what I found instead?!?

Gold spiked ear cuff with chain that attaches to a hair clip!  Coolest piece of jewelry for under $15; talk about bang for your buck!

Maison Martin Margiela X H&M Lookbook

(MMM X H&M lookbook)

Take a first look at the upcoming collaboration of Maison Martin Margiela and H&M due to be released on November 15th.

If you like the deconstructed tailoring and avant-garde styling of MMM, this is your chance to pick up a few pieces at high street pricing!  Personally, I'm eyeing on those burgundy clear plexiglass wedge boots and the black leather glove coin bag.  As for the actual clothing, I might have to pass...oversize coats and dresses only look good on skinny girls...not for preggers!

BEAUTY TREND - Swan Makeup

I'm in the midst of organizing a big birthday party for my best friend who's turning 30!  Obviously, we're going for a theme party (they're always more fun!!) of Black Swans White Swan (BSWS).  The idea is that all the guests are dressed as black swans and the birthday girl as white swan.  So, we should be expecting lots of feathers, tutus and bling costume-like dresses!

And look what I just came across?!?  Swan makeup by Timothy Hung!  Look at the embellished eyebrows, the upper and lower falsies and that winged smokey eye!!!  I LOVE IT!

Now, where can I get a makeup artist that can replicate this...

LANVIN X Ladurée

Anyone that knows me also knows that I have a sweet tooth.  In fact, I'm always willing to give up my main course in exchange for dessert!!!

Although I usually favour dark chocolate desserts, I simply cannot resist rainbow coloured macaroons...especially if it comes in a Lanvin box!  Alber Elbaz collaborated with the House of  LadurĂ©e to offer us a iconic sketched faces print box of eight bubble gum flavoured macaroons!

Sweetness and style is always a perfect match!

BEAUTY FIX - Preventing Stretch Marks

Although pregnancy is one of the most wonderful experience in life, let's all be honest about all the sacrifices we, as women, have to put up with!  While our hormones are all over the places, not to mention the physical changes we need to endure, I would like to think that I've done a relatively good job in maintaining my vanity.

One of my fears while going through my first pregnancy almost 3 years ago was getting stretch marks thanks to one of my girlfriend who had serious stretch marks on her belly and breasts.  She was the first among our group to have kids so it was a real eye-opener for me!!!

Not so much a "fix" (since it's almost impossible to reverse stretch marks) but rather as preventative measures, I use both Elancyl Specific Vergetures and Bio-Oil on my belly, sides of my waist, hips, thighs and breasts from the first trimester onwards.

Elancyl is French and specially designed for pregnancy stretch mark prevention.  It's creamy and smooth in texture, which makes it very easy to apply.  As for Bio-Oil, it is an all-around excellent moisturizer and stretch mark/scar diminisher.  It needs to be applied at least 30 mins before going out to be fully absorbed.  I usually prefer to use it right after shower before blow drying my hair and putting my makeup on.

Now, for my second pregnancy, I plan to stick to this regime since it worked so well the first time around...no need to re-invent the wheel, right?
