SHOPPING - Island Finds

Just got back to a relaxing week in Bali...back to crazy Shanghai!!!

As with all my trips, I love to buy souvenirs from local designers.  The first thing that caught my eyes are these amazing tribal necklaces made from seashells, corals and wood!  Some of them are breathtaking, but once on, I looked more than ridiculous (like I was part of some carnival) and weight a ton (literally).  So I opted for this one with a giant semi-circle seashell that has both impact yet still user friendly.

I also noticed lots of leather stores, especially python!  Bags, jackets, sandals, boots accessories in any colour in the world!  Obviously, the designs were simple and limited but a 1/10 of the price compared to what most designer charges, I'm more than happy with my oversized cobalt clutch and natural coloured credit card holder (I also got my mom a oversized hobo bag in the same colour as my card holder but she's already using it before I got a chance to take a picture!).

EXTREME Couture

L'Officiel Paris has to be one of my favourite magazine for couture reference.  This month, I love the playoff of Eastern vs Western inspired couture looks, especially the headpiece on models Claire Collins and Emma Xie!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Terima Kasih

It's already been 4 days since we arrived in Seminyak Bali and I've really come to appreciate the Balinese lifestyle.  Maybe it's the weather; maybe it's the culture, but I've noticed an inner peace from the local staff who made our stay at the villa so enjoyable.

"Terima Kasih" means thank you in Indonesian.  This is the only phrase I learnt so far and have been using it on a daily basis.  At this moment, I'm just so thankful for everything in my life...including this trip, great friends, loving family and upcoming baby Liu due next March 1st.

What I love most about the Fashion Weeks?  It's gotta be the street style before, between and after the shows!  There's really nothing better (nor more inspiring) than glamorous fashion insiders giving us their take on current trends!

From Bali with Love

Life in Bali is great!  We were invited to stay at a vacation villa of a friend for the October Holiday and this vacation cannot have come at a better time.  A full week away without Ayden (I love the little guy to death but some time away with just hubby + friends does good for my mental health)!

The tropical weather is great, the food is delicious and the villa we are staying in is spectacular!  We just landed monday night and I'm already in love!  If it was because of the long flight from Shanghai, I would seriously consider getting a timeshare with one of the properties.

DARK AGES

I love dark colours (more slimming & forgiving), I love dark thoughts (more dangerous & taboo) and I love dark makeup (more mysterious & bad girl!!!).  But as with everything else, dark makeup needs to be balanced with neutral and matt face for an modern look.  Otherwise, too much glitter and too much dark makeup (eyes, lips AND cheeks) you'll end up looking like a runner-up of Miss Universe (not in a good way)!
