OUTFIT DU JOUR - Copy Cat

Some might see it as a sign of form of annoyance but I rather think it a form of flattery (especially if it's someone who is already known for good styling)!  In fact, in many instance, my closest girlfriends and I often end up getting the same (exact same style/same colour) pieces of clothing, accessory and purses without knowing!  Regardless if intentional or not, I always feel it doesn't really matter since no two people wear it the same way.

This time, I'm the copy cat.  I've seen my best friend wear this oversized Missoni-inspired dress so many times since last summer that I decided to get it myself.  Seems like a good piece when I want to look good on my bloated days (which evidently, seems to be everyday since I got back to Montreal thanks to all the lunch/dinner commitments).

I recently came across the skinniest stiletto heels ever...on a pair of Christian Louboutin nonetheless!  They are so comfortable (perfect arch and heel ratio), flattering (patten nude) and sexy (asymmetric cut exposing all toe cleavage).

Now, I may have created myself an excuse to have more Alt inspired outfits in my upcoming ODJs!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Montecristo

 

We had dinner last night at Queue de Cheval Steakhouse with the whole family.  It would have been otherwise a regular family gathering except we all decided to leave the kids at home!  The idea was to hang out in their cigar lounge, but for me, any excuse to not having to chase after Ayden in a restaurant is pretty good!!

So I don't smoke.  Not cigars, not cigarettes, not anything.  But I did enjoy the seafood platter (which included fresh shucked oysters, cocktail shrimps the size of my hand (no joke), crab legs & scallop ceviche to name a few), the 32oz 30+ day-aged USDA bone-in steak, Chilean sea bass...and let's not forget their cheesecake!  And if all of that comes with a hour at the cigar lounge (for me to somewhat digest), so be it!

HAIR TREND - Pop Coloured Hair

I went to see my stylist, Xavier Lee, for a little cut & treatment (I'll post that later) and my attention went straight to these cute little colour capsules on their display shelf.

"What are those?", I asked curiously.
"They're COLOR BUGs by Kevin Murphy.  It's hair shadow...like eyeshadow."
"How does that work?!?"
"It's a temporary colour for hair...I'll try one on you later."

How would anything like that stay on my pitch black hair?  Maybe on a blond...like the models on high fashion editorials.  I mean, even Katy Perry and Kelly Osbourne has permanent dye to get that pop coloured hair.

Well, to my surprise, I love it!  It was subtle yet noticeable...just what I wanted without the commitment of having a fully processed hair dye that would need maintenance every 2 weeks!

I personally got the purple to try but was really tempted to get all of them!

OBSESSION DU JOUR - Insertion

Let's just put it out there: I don't have a full chest!  In fact, my small B got even smaller after 9 months of breastfeeding (all you moms out there know what I mean, right?).

And after all those months of wearing wireless sports bras, I am totally over the whole Victoria Secrets super-push-up-add-two-cup-sizes kind of lingerie.  It's not like I really need the support (supporting what?!?) and it's not like I can fool anyone into believing that I've maintain my D-cup after I stopped breastfeeding, so why even bother?

So I've been constantly in search of fashion-forward (and friendly, especially when it comes to summer wardrobe) lingerie.  And I think I found the ultimate cool girl's bra: VPL Insertion W bra.  They come in a variety of colour blocking combinations, they are athletic chic (which is a huge trend for SS10) and can even be worn alone!

And p.s., the cobalt blue/blk one is even on sale on Net-a-Porter's international site!!!

GIRL CRUSH - Erin Wasson

It's been a while since my last girl crush...and while surfing online, I suddenly remember that Erin Wasson was the one who "introduced" me to Alexander Wang long before he won the CFDA.  She's also my number one influence for urban styling and the attitude required (if you really want to pull that look off).

Now, my question is how does one become so hot while being so cool?!?  I think Erin was just born like that.  Yup, that must be it!

Summer Love

Soak up the Sun

There's nothing better than hanging out at the pool on a hot summer day.  And that's exactly what we did on friday from 2-6pm!

After being baked in sun and full from mango smoothies, pasta, salad and fried calamari, Ayden and I went home to pack for our trip back to Montreal while the girls went on with their day with margaritas!
