SPRING 11: Marchesa

With wedding season at its peak, Marchesa's spring 2011 collection is best suited for all those who seek high glamour, high voltage and high impact on their big day.  My wedding preparation days are long over, but I wouldn't mind slipping into one of these dresses to attend one of many weddings we are invited to or just to dance around my livingroom!

On day two of my sale, I needed a comfy t-shirt dress.  One that allows me to run around without constraints but still chic and presentable.

After two long days and a few extra bucks in the pocket, it's finally over!  I can now clean up my living room and let my 6 month old make the mess!  Thanks again to everyone who came to help and support!

SHOPPING: Be my valentine

Remember the Dominic Jones knuckle duster ring from my 5 days till Christmas post?  It recently went on the Outnet.com and I knew it had to be mine!  My biggest dillema was "rose gold or white gold"?  But since it's actually my valentine's gift, I let my hubby solve that problem.

Two summers ago, I went thru a DIY phase where I bought a lot of materials to experiment.  These two pieces are probably my proudest products: the Alexander Wang inspired white goddess dress and the Balmain inspired studded vest.

The goddess dress was most challenging and required many trial & errors.  As for the vest, I actually hand studded the whole collar, which left me with bruised fingers for days!

OBSESSION DU JOUR - Elephant belt

I WON!  I FINALLY WON!!!  

Let me start by explaining myself: I have been on a losing streak for the past month on ebay for an elephant belt.  Everytime I find a vintage golden elephant belt, I watch, I bid, and I lose!  Why are there so many people who want an elephant belt as badly as I do?!?  I really dont understand...then again, I don't understand why my sudden obsession for an elephant belt either...

Well, today, this mint condition vintage Mimi Di N belt is mine!  I love the giant gold buckle (6 1/2" X 3"), I love the trumps facing up and I love the textured brown belt.  Can't wait till it arrives at my door!

Sick of winter clothes but still too cold outside to wear summer pieces?  I feel the same way...this is what I call "lost in transition".

The 4 C's of Styled by Janet

No, I'm not talking about the 4 C's diamond!  I've only had one crash course when shopping for my engagement ring thus making me far from being an expert. 

I'm talking about the 4 C's of my personal style.  I must admit, I don't think I'm very creative, but I know too well what I like and don't like...which can be dangerous because I shop with minimal hesitation! 

Here are the 4 C's of Styled by Janet:

1. Cool - This sounds like a teenager, but I like things to look cool.  You can't have too much attitude but you can be too sexy or too cutie.  
2. Costume Jewelry - You can go as bold and as wild as you want with costume jewelry...and they don't hurt the bank account!
3. Comfort - No matter how pretty a piece looks (and this is especially true for shoes), it's just not gonna be worn if it's not comfortable.  Trust me on this one...it won't stretch if it sits in the closet.
4. Chic - Chicness comes from within; part of your upbrining.  Don't think just because you're carrying a Kelly bag that it automatically makes you chic (remember Britney Spears with her croc Kelly??)  It's the hardest "C" to describe and achieve.

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Meow!

So apparantly my lucky colour is yellow according to the chinese horoscope.  I rarely wear any colour, but yellow?!?  I'm not gonna go out there and buy a bright yellow dress or top and the closest I will ever get is the butter yellow of my leopard print blouse.  Does that count?  I also added a touch of yellow gold and orange...trust me, I'm trying really hard!
