Versace X H&M (live in Shanghai)

Are you ready for the launch of Versace for H&M tomorrow morning???  I sure am...in fact, I even did my homework and will only buy these 5 items.  Nothing more...I will not get tempted by the crowd, I will not be influenced by the hype, I will stay calm and only purchase those 5 items in my size.

My plan also consist of running out in the rain at 4am and lining up with two girlfriends (what would I do without my girlfriends??)...I'll try to get some live pictures and share with you all the progress.

In the Mood for Love

If you come to Shanghai, one thing to do is get a custom-made qibao (also known as cheongsam) dress.  These demure yet sexy traditional chinese dresses represent the high of shanghai fashion during the French Colonial days (my favourite era) when it was all about glamour!

Maggie Cheung wore it best for her performance of "In the Mood for Love" and that's exactly the mood I was in when slipping into this ivory silk qibao.  The dress itself instantly changed my posture and my overall behaviour.  I have to say, it requires a fair amount of grace and lightness when walking...not a easy task in our world of denim and t-shirts!

Tying the Knot

My dear hubby sent me this link to eDIYinfinity's session on different ways to knot your scarf...first thing that came to my mind was "why was he looking at this youtube clip to begin with???".  Well, I'm sure glad he did because this video is actually fun and easy to follow (I hate complicated DIY that discourage you even before you try)!

So here it is...take out your old scarf and have fun!!!

SPOTTED - Houndstooth

Houndstooth has been spotted everywhere and on everyone.  The bold black & white print, often associated with masculine tailoring, is really making a comeback!

Remember a few years back when Katie Holmes attended an event wearing a houndstooth print Alexander McQueen shirtsleeve cocktail dress with side draping (with a short tousled bob)?  That was exactly when I became a fan of houndstooth myself!  Although to day I only own an oversized cardigan, I think I'm ready to venture into a classic pencil skirt.

Will you be bold enough to be spotted in houndstooth this season?

Head over Heels

(Elle Latin America November 2011)

I have always been fascinated by hats and headpieces since my early ages.  I must admit this admiration for a single piece of accessory that can instantly transform the mood and style of an outfit started with my own mother's love for hats.

Last thursday at the Peninsula event, I found myself in love with Chanel's latest collection, including a iconic hat, similar to what Coco herself would wear, in black with black sequins ribbon.  In fact, the shape and style is very similar to the second to last picture (minus the mink headpiece under the hat)!

But I've been long lusting over the Lanvin large flat rim number (1st picture) for a long time and even found a similar version at Zara...which of course will make both my hubby and my wallet happier!  Oh...it's so tempting to just get both!!!  But then, I also need to consider if I rather spend that budget on my head or on my heels?!?

INTERVIEW w/ The Row

Ashley and Mary-Kate are, among many other things, the designers of a much followed brand called The Row.  I love the luxurious material and impeccable cut of the line, which consist mostly everyday basics and a few highlight pieces.

Here is an interview with the girls on their brand for Net-a-Porter...enjoy!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - the Peninsula

Last night was the launch of the "Celebrating the Craftsmanship" for the boutiques of Shanghai Peninsula as well as our Personal Stylist program!  It was much bigger (with 500 hundred guests and media) than I anticipated.

Each boutique was either showcasing a special collection or had flown in a master tailor for a made-to-measure session for the night.  The lower floor of the shopping arcade had stations of oysters, sushi, and other canapés...not to mention a station of handmade chocolate!  Yummy...my partner and I were too busy hogging all the food and wine you can image (I guess we should have been more professional but who cares!!!) to make small chat with anyone.

At the end of the night, we collected a few business cards, full stomachs and many rounds of laughter!

Jacket - Zara; Silk camisole - DKNY; Jeans - Rich & Skinny; Clutch - Hermes; Boots - Stuart Weitzman; Cashmere shawl - Hermes; Gold cuff - Kenneth Jay Lane; Ring - YSL; Watch - Hermes; Green wrap bracelet - Club Monaco; Beaded bracelet - Gifted; Crystal bracelet - BCBG; Necklace - Hermes

GIRL CRUSH - Sandra

Sandra, from 5 inch and up, has incredible style.  Period.  There's no question in my mind that her range of style, her use of accessories and her effortlessness of putting everything together have now become my obsession...

Based in London, her blog brings me from backstage fashion to her own interpretation on the street.  And how can we miss her massive blond hair??  I don't usually like blond, but on her, it just works...maybe because is rough, maybe because it's careless.  Either way, she's definitely one of my go-to inspiration!
