NARS X Andy Warhol

Look at all beautiful palette of pop of violet & turquoise with an universally flattering golden pink base!!!  I'm amazingly surprise that it's not at all funky (I was not able to tell with Andy Warhol's collaboration)...in fact, it's very modern and wearable!

SHOPPING - Mama J

So here's the news: I'm preggers!  To be precise, I'm exactly 14 weeks in (or about 3 1/2 months).  Yup, exciting and scary at the same time!!!  As much as I'm already dreading the upcoming months (increase fatigue, water retention in legs, bathroom runs every hour, not to mention all that weight gain and potential stretch marks), but I'm not about to flush my sense of style down the drain too!  In fact, I think getting pampered and a new maternity wardrobe was my only source of comfort during my last pregnancy.

First thing first, I need some good maternity jeans, especially since my 2nd and 3rd trimesters will be in fall/winter seasons.  For that, I obviously, I turned to J Brand's maternity collection, Mama J.  As far as maternity denim goes, it's only been less than 3 years since my first pregnancy with Ayden, and already, it seems like generations ago in the denim world!

Instead of the dreadful full panel (which I owned 2 pairs), the Mama J offers discrete yet comfortable side panels - much closer to regular jeans fitting and look like regular designer jeans.  On the practical side, I won't have to wait to my tummy to "grow into" the full panel and can even wear them proudly postpartum!

And that's why I bought two pairs: one in black and one indigo!

Freja for Zara

(Zara Fall 2012)

Gorgeous Freja for Zara's Fall campaign.  Love the black & white.  Love the carelessness in her hair.  Lover everything so much I almost forgot to pay attention to the clothes!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Make Up Your Mind!

I'm in a bit of a dilemma: should I cut my fringe or grow them out completely?  Honestly, I'm really tempted to trim my side swept fringe...perhaps to cheek-bone length?  But I've also been wanting to let it grow out, in a hippie-kind-a-way with a clean middle part.  That way, it's easier to style when wearing fedora hats or wooly beanies this fall.

Man, why is it so hard to make up my mind?!?

INSPIRATION - Carrie Bradshaw

Like many girls, I grew up watching SATC (Sex and the City).  When it first premiered on HBO, I just started my first year in University and was amazed by the city (NY), the girlfriend bonding (Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte and Stanford), the relationships (all of them, including Mr Big), and especially the fashion!!!

In the era when minimalist was the mainstream trend, I was fascinated by her fearless approach to styling!  Still remembering how many times I wondered if I would "grow up"and embrace my 30's in the same way...

And just like that, I started collecting the iconic pieces from the show (the Gucci waist pouch, the Manolo Campari heels, the Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry)...and I'm sure I wasn't the only one doing so!  Even until recently, I just purchase my own "Janet" necklace, inspired by the "Carrie" necklace.

How Carrie inspired all of us over the past decade is amazing...I wonder when will HBO come out with another original sitcom that will sweep us away?!?

THE JACKET

(Elle France August 2012)

I've always dreamed of a little black & white Chanel tweed jacket since my teenage years.  Of course, at that time, that dream seems like a century away (now, still at least a decade away!!).

Styled properly, it can be the most stylish yet timeless item (Elle France showcased it flawlessly) in anyone's closet.  And the immaculate cut, the beautiful buttons and the signature chain pipping on the interior all make that jacket THE JACKET!

Yup, it's still on my "to get" list (although it's getting a little long and hard to manage...).

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Sucker!

I was out for afternoon tea on sunday with a few girlfriends.  I simply love the idea of sharing desserts and ice latte over a sunny afternoon.  Since we were all free that evening, I dragged them with me for a pedi (yup, mine was overdue...) afterwards.

Well, I was the sucker in this story.  While having my pedi, my manicurist recommended a "treatment", which I had no idea what it was and thought it might be worthwhile to try since it sounded fab and was about $35, which was the same cost as my pedicure itself (can't be that bad, right?).  WRONG!  All I got was a scrub and lotion followed by a 3 mins foot massage (which by the way is usually included in a pedicure anyways!!!).

Oh well, lesson learnt!  At least I love the turquoise shade of my new pedi!

How to Add Drama...

(Tour de Force)

(Jason Wu)

(Chanel)

I'm really thinking that I will need to add a spectacular headpiece to my otherwise very boring outfit for an upcoming wedding.  So far, all I have is a simple black maxi dress from Helmut Lang with a side slit.  Worn with flip flops, it can look very casual due to its clean cut and jersey material.

Obviously, I'm going for sky-high heels (not sure which pair yet) and a stunning clutch (not sure which one yet either).  But since I'm planning to do my own hair/makeup, a headpiece seems like the ideal solution to distract from any potential eye makeup or hair oopsies!

Now to think of it, I've only worn a feather headpiece once to a christmas party many years ago...it may be time to attempt it again!

I think my first choice would definitely be the Tour de Force black cage headpiece, but given the time and resource I have before the wedding, I'll most likely end up with a Jason Wu lace or Chanel adorned   headpiece inspired look.
